Abstract:
This solution proposes a method of inserting advertisements into podcast/webstreams that a customer might be listening to in order to provide more relevant and beneficial ads.

Background:
With the advent of AirPods and other wireless earbud technology, many shoppers today are using them to listen to streaming music services or podcasts while they shop in physical stores. Often during these broadcasts, advertisements are provided, either pre-recorded or read by the hosts. Often these ads provide no benefit to the listener, as they are for products not relevant or unavailable to them, however, these advertisements are pivotal for podcast success. If there was a better way to show the monetization of the ad reads, it would provide benefit for the podcast host (better profit) as well as a better listening experience (more relevant ads).

Description:
With the advent of AirPods and other wireless earbud technology, many shoppers today are using them to listen to music or podcasts while they shop. Often during these broadcasts, advertisements are provided, either pre-recorded or read by the hosts. Often these ads provide no benefit to the listener, as they are for products not relevant to them. However, these advertisements are pivotal for podcast success.  Our idea is that when a user is listening to one of these programs in the store, and by connecting to the store WiFi (so the store could intercept and modify web traffic/audio stream), the shopper location can be detected (beacon, GPS, etc.) and an ad play is about to occur (detected by a tag on the audio stream), either a pre-recorded message could be inserted or an AI generated similar sounding voice of an ad read could be done for an item located either near them or in the store. If the customer buys the item advertised, a kickback could be sent to the podcast host/streaming service to incentivize this use.
